AstraZeneca PLC, a biopharmaceutical company with global leadership, announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to license the development of CRESTOR® (rosuvastatin) oral tablet for the treatment of high-risk, early-stage disease in patients with advanced HRT.CRESTOR® is a combination of two statins:Cholesterol Blockers, or CRESTOR (rosuvastatin), andNon-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS)such asIressaandIvermectin.
The FDA approval of CRESTOR® is a key step in the treatment of HRT, but there is no definitive conclusion regarding the drug’s safety and efficacy in patients with advanced HRT.
Crestor® was developed in the USAin combination with two other statins:AmbrisentanActosAvandamet.
The agreement follows an agreement to the United States FDA with AstraZeneca (AZ) for the development of CRESTOR® (rosuvastatin) oral tablet and a collaboration agreement with AstraZeneca (AZ) for the commercial launch of CRESTOR® (rosuvastatin) for patients with advanced HRT.
The agreement is expected to close on February 18, 2025, and is also subject to regulatory approval by the FDA. The agreement is contingent on receipt of a formal written submission from AstraZeneca.
The agreement also requires AstraZeneca to provide the following benefits for patients with advanced HRT:
Reduces the risk of HRT in advanced patients
FDA-approved use in patients with advanced HRT
Inhibits the conversion of CRESTOR to CRESTOR-FIT in patients with advanced HRT
